Pre Writing | #BGP003

By Dr. Rajeev Tamhankar

Pre-writing skills are the essential building blocks of writing, preparing children systematically for writing. The objective is to guide kids through progressively focused steps, ensuring each stage builds on the previous one. This method adapts to the child’s speed and engagement, making learning personalized and effective. By developing fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, and muscle memory, pre-writing activities lay the foundation for successful writing. Encouraging gradual progress, these activities help children gain the confidence and skills needed to write proficiently.

1.Start with free scribbling on any plain A4 paper, allowing the child to explore freely.

2.Scribble within a large box drawn on the paper to develop spatial awareness.

3.Scribble inside a narrow rectangle to practice control within smaller boundaries.

4.Draw a line, aiming to make it as straight as possible, to enhance precision and fine motor skills. Each step builds on the previous one, adjusting to the child’s pace and engagement for effective learning.

Develops fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination. Fosters creativity and builds confidence for future writing tasks.

Offer a variety of writing tools and praise effort. Encourage experimentation and keep sessions enjoyable.
