BGPF061 | Scavenger hunt

By Dr. Rajeev Tamhankar

The Scavenger Hunt Activity engages children in a fun, screen-free exploration game that sharpens their observation skills and fosters problem-solving. With items hidden around the house and clues provided, this activity encourages curiosity and active learning.

  • Prepare a list of 4-6 items (e.g., red toy, something soft, a book with animals, a spoon).
  • Hide these items in safe, slightly challenging locations (e.g., under cushions, on tables).
  • Provide the child with the list or simple drawings of the items.
  • For older children, add clues or use a timer to increase difficulty.
  • Guide them to find the items while encouraging independence.
  1. Cognitive Development: Enhances problem-solving and critical thinking.
  2. Sensory Engagement: Stimulates tactile and visual exploration.
  3. Language Skills: Builds vocabulary through descriptive clues.
  4. Physical Activity: Encourages movement and coordination.
  • Start simple for younger children, increasing complexity gradually.
  • Use clear, age-appropriate clues for guidance.
  • Include themes (e.g., colors, textures) to make it educational.
  • Keep hiding spots safe and easily accessible.
  • Items to hide: toys, books, utensils, photos, etc.
  • Paper/drawings for lists or clues.
  • Timer (optional).
  • Safe play area for the hunt.
