This geography-based adventure activity introduces children to the world’s continents in a fun and engaging way through pretend play and exploration. Children will navigate a map, use a compass, and role-play as explorers to discover continents, learning their names and locations through an interactive treasure hunt.
- Setup: Create a base camp using cushions or blankets. Arrange a world map, a toy compass, binoculars, and an explorer’s journal (a folded A4 sheet).
- Prepare Treasure Spots: Hide soft toys or objects around the room, assigning each spot to a different continent.
- Activity Start: Explain the treasure hunt and show the world map. Use the compass to navigate toward a continent.
- Role-play Exploration: Guide children through pretend exploration. Upon finding the treasure, label the continent in the explorer’s journal.
- Repeat: Continue the journey across all continents, labeling them in the journal after each discovery.
- Wrap-Up: Review the continents and stick the labels on the world map.
- Enhances geographical knowledge and map-reading skills.
