BGPF077 | Bowling Activity

By Dr. Rajeev Tamhankar

This activity introduces a playful and simplified version of bowling for toddlers, using household items as colorful pins. It’s an engaging way to improve physical activity and skills such as hand-eye coordination, problem-solving, and gross motor skills.

  • Gather soft balls and household items like plastic bottles or cups to act as pins.
  • Arrange the pins in a triangular formation.
  • To stabilize lightweight pins, fill them with a small amount of sand or rice.
  • Create a rolling line using tape, about 2-4 feet from the pins.
  • Demonstrate rolling the ball towards the pins, encouraging the toddler to imitate.
  • Celebrate each successful knockdown and adjust the distance to increase difficulty gradually.
  • Gross Motor Skills: Enhances muscle strength and coordination.
  • Hand-Eye Coordination: Improves precision as toddlers align their roll with the pins.
  • Cognitive Development: Stimulates problem-solving and decision-making areas of the brain.
  • Social Interaction: Encourages turn-taking and collaborative play.
  • Sensory Stimulation: Engages tactile and visual senses with colorful pins and rolling actions.
  • Decorate pins with stickers or tape to make them visually appealing.
  • Use lightweight foam or rubber balls for safe indoor play.
  • Involve siblings or caregivers to add a team-play element.
  • Adjust pin arrangement or rolling distance for variety and challenge.
  • Soft, lightweight balls (foam, rubber, or small footballs).
  • Plastic bottles, cups, or other household items as pins.
