KBGPF014 | Animal Safari 0-1

By Dr. Rajeev Tamhankar and Riddhi Chincholikar

A sensory-based activity designed to stimulate infants’ visual, auditory, and motor skills by introducing them to animals through flashcards, sounds, and textures.

  • Setup: Lay a soft blanket or mat. For tummy time, ensure a safe surface.
  • Flashcards: Begin with four high-contrast flashcards (e.g., cat, dog, fish, bird).
  • Engagement: Introduce each animal with sound mimicry and descriptions (e.g., “This is a cat, it says meow“).
  • Interaction: Let the baby visually track the cards, mimic animal sounds, or touch textures (if available).
  • Duration: Keep the activity between 5-10 minutes for engagement and repetition.
  • Progression: Adapt for age milestones:
    1. 0-3 months: Focus on visual tracking.
    2. 3-6 months: Encourage touching and slow movements.
    3. 6-9 months: Hands-on exploration with textured toys.
  • Enhances sensory development (sight, hearing, touch).
  • Encourages motor skills like grasping and tracking.
  • Boosts vocabulary and early curiosity through auditory cues.
  • Stimulates critical brain areas (visual, auditory, and sensory motor).
  • Use soft animal sounds for auditory stimulation.
  • Praise and smile to maintain the baby’s focus.
  • Avoid overstimulation by keeping the sessions brief.
  • Repeat the activity for better retention and learning.
  • High-contrast animal flashcards (cat, dog, fish, bird).
  • Soft blanket or playmat.
  • Animal-shaped textured toys or teethers (optional).
  • Rattles or sound-making objects.
