KBGPF016 | Action Words for babies

By Dr. Rajeev Tamhankar

This activity focuses on teaching action words like “eat,” “drink,” “sleep,” “play,” and “clap” to babies using interactive methods. It stimulates language development by pairing words with corresponding actions in daily routines.

  • Choose Six Words: Select six action words such as “eat,” “drink,” “sit,” “stand,” “wave,” and “clap.”
  • Pair with Actions: Perform the action while saying the word, e.g., “Drink” while sipping water.
  • Daily Repetition: Use each word 5-7 times throughout the day.
  • Interactive Songs: Use action-based songs like “If You’re Happy and You Know It.”
  • Encourage Imitation: Perform the action with the baby and encourage them to mimic it.
  • Language Development: Strengthens speech production through Broca’s area stimulation.
  • Improved Communication: Helps babies express needs and emotions faster.
  • Motor Skill Development: Enhances physical coordination through action-based learning.
  • Be Consistent: Use words regularly in daily routines.
  • Show Excitement: Use exaggerated gestures and an enthusiastic tone.
  • Use Familiar Objects: Pair actions with familiar toys or household items.
  • Reinforce Success: Praise the baby when they imitate actions correctly.
  • Everyday items like cups, toys, doors, or food items.
  • Music source (YouTube or other platforms for interactive songs).
  • A playful and engaging environment.
