TBGPF004 | Animal Safari 1-2

By Dr. Rajeev Tamhankar

“Animal Safari” is an imaginative pretend-play activity where children explore a homemade jungle, interact with animal-themed props, and learn about different animals through sounds, actions, and storytelling.

  • Setup: Lay out a play mat or blanket, decorate it with stuffed animals or flashcards, and create a jungle-like zone.
  • Gear: Provide binoculars, hats, or bags to simulate a safari adventure.
  • Explore: Guide the child to “discover” animals, mimic their sounds, and act out their behaviors (e.g., jumping like a monkey).
  • Interactive Play: Crawl under blankets as bushes, balance like flamingos, or find hidden animals.
  • Conclude: Sit together and discuss the animals found during the safari.
  • Enhances motor skills, imagination, and language development.
  • Stimulates memory, auditory-visual integration, and decision-making.
  • Introduces lesser-known animals for phonics learning.
  • Use safe and child-friendly props for binoculars or animal toys.
  • Incorporate animal fun facts to boost knowledge.
  • If certain toys aren’t available, pretend or use screen images.
  • Play mat or blanket
  • Stuffed animals or flashcards
  • Optional: hats, binocular props, small bags
